Description: The new mural at Oscar DePriest School is our first installation at the school. The design highlights the important historical figure Oscar DePriest, the first African American elected to city council in Chicago and later to Congress, who inspired the school's name. The mural includes a portrait of DePriest as well as the phrases "Engage, Believe, Succeed." Other important elements of the mural include a scene of students celebrating their graduation by throwing their caps and a dolphin and wave scene that represents the school's mascot.
