Englewood Metra Underpass at 63rd and Wallace by Amanda Martinez

Description: GSM worked with Teamwork Englewood and residents to create the design for a public art project on 63rd and Wallace. After a series of meetings where neighbors of all ages contributed suggestions for themes and ideas to include, GSM presented two designs which were voted on by the community. The winning design was installed by our team of Teaching Artists and Interns, along with Teen Apprentices from the community, and 100+ volunteers from near and far. Situated on the busy thoroughfare of 63rd St, the mural welcomes passersby with vibrant, positive imagery showcasing the diversity and beauty of Englewood.

Description: The building of Kiddie Steps 4 You Learning Center in Englewood, which provides childcare starting at 6 weeks, is now emblazoned with energizing images and inspirational messages for the students and community members in the surrounding neighborhood.

Description: GSM completed two murals here: the first brightens up the front entrance of the park's field house and the other, which is on the side of the building, illustrates the seasons of the year.

Description: This mural depicts elements of the Montessori philosophy including nature in the classroom, exploration of the environment, and the role of education in establishing peace.

Description: Located on the rooftop meditation garden of the facility, two vibrant and cheerful murals bring joy to families of children with complex medical needs.

The Ronald McDonald House in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood is the largest in the world and in walking distance from the new Lurie Children’s Hospital. It offesr 16-stories of care & comfort for families of hospitalized children including 86 guest rooms, a rooftop healing deck and a kitchen filled with home-cooked meals and supportive conversation.
